KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ANEMIA PREVENTION IN MOTHERS OF CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OF AGE IN A HOSPITAL ESTABLISHMENT IN NORTH LIMA

Abstract

Objectives: To determine the knowledge about prevention of anemia in mothers of children under 2 years of age at the Hospital Municipal de los Olivos in Lima Norte, 2022.

Materials and methods: The present study was developed from a quantitative approach and its methodological design was descriptive/transversal. The population consisted of 30 mothers of children under 2 years of age. The data collection technique was the survey and the measurement instrument was the level of knowledge questionnaire on anemia prevention, which presents 23 items and 2 dimensions.

Results: Regarding the level of knowledge about prevention of anemia, the high level predominated with 53.3% (n=22), followed by the medium level with 24.5% (n=10) and low level with 22.2% (n= 8). According to its dimensions, in general terms about anemia, the medium level predominated with 45.1% (n=15), followed by the low level with 33.2% (n=8) and the high level with 21.7% (n= 7) and in preventive measures, the medium level predominated with 40% (n=18), followed by the low level with 32% (n=7) and high level with 28% (n=5).

Conclusions: Regarding the level of knowledge about anemia prevention, high level predominates, followed by medium level and low level. According to its dimensions, in generalities about anemia, the medium level predominated, followed by the low level and high level and in preventive measures, the medium level predominated, followed by the low level and high level.
