QUALITY OF LIFE IN PEOPLE WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES IDENTIFIED IN A MEDICAL OFFICE LOCATED IN LIMA-NORTE

Abstract

Objective: To determine the quality of life related to health in people with type 2 diabetes identified in a medical office located in Lima-Norte.

Materials and methods: The present research work was developed under the perspective of the quantitative approach and its methodological design was descriptive and transversal. The population consisted of 65 people with type 2 diabetes. The data collection technique was the survey and the instrument used was the SF-36 questionnaire, structured by 36 items and 8 factors.

Results: In quality of life, the high level prevailed with 52.3% (n=34), followed by the very high level with 29.2% (n=19), low level with 10.8% (n=7). and average level with 7.7% (n=5). According to its dimensions, in physical functioning, the very high level predominated with 23.1% (n=34), in functioning/physical role, the very high level predominated with 75.4% (n=49), in pain, the very high level prevailed with 78.5% (n=51), in general health, the average level predominated with 69.2% (n=45), in energy/fatigue, the average level predominated with 33.8% ( n=22), in social function, the high level predominated with 52.3% (n=34), in emotional function, the very high level predominated with 63.1% (n=41), in emotional well-being, the high level with 61.5% (n=40) and in change of health, the average level prevailed with 64.6% (n=42).

Conclusions: In quality of life, the high level prevailed with, followed by the very high level, low level and average level.
