Abstract

Abstract:

Objective: To determine the level of obsessive-compulsive symptoms in a population of young adults at a university in Northern Lima. Materials and Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental study involving a sample of 175 young adults who completed a questionnaire on sociodemographic data and the Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory. Results: The results showed that 36% (n=63) of the young adults exhibited low levels of obsessive-compulsive behavior, while 64% (n=112) exhibited moderate levels. Conclusions: In conclusion, many young adults who exhibit symptoms of this disorder do not receive adequate treatment due to barriers such as stigma, lack of resources, or limited access to specialized mental health services.
