Objective: To determine adherence to treatment in patients with tuberculosis treated at a primary care health center in South Lima.
Materials and methods: The present study was approached from a quantitative approach and its methodological design was descriptive and cross-sectional. The population was made up of 45 patients with tuberculosis treated at a primary care health center in South Lima. The final sample consisted of 35 patients with tuberculosis. The technique used in the research was the survey and the data collection instrument applied was the Morisky-Green-Levine questionnaire.
Results: As for the age of the patients, the minimum was 18 years and the maximum 64 years. As for sex, women with 57.1% predominated (n = 20), followed by men with 42.9% (n = 15). Regarding adherence to treatment, patients with tuberculosis predominated who are adherents with their treatment with 65.71% (n = 23), followed by those patients who are not adherents with their treatment with 34.29% (n = 12).
Conclusions: Regarding treatment adherence, patients with tuberculosis who, if they are adherent to their treatment, predominated, followed by those patients who are not adherent to their treatment.
